Disability Sports training for group volunteers

<b>Title: </b>Disability Sports training for group volunteers <br><b>Description: </b>Disability Sport Northern Ireland facilitated an inclusive games training session in Taghnevan Youth and Community Centre in Lurgan on Wednesday 25th August for workers and volunteers dealing with older people and those with disabilities.  The session was kindly funded by the SHSCT through their neighbourhood renewal/health and well-being programme.  The session was well attended and we all learned new ways of including everyone in our physical activity sessions.

Description: Participants have completed Child Protection training provided by Community Sector Training as part of CNC's Spring Training Calender.

Description: The funding seminar was a great success especially for CNC's members, this workshop began with short presentations from funders and was followed by workshops where member groups got time with funders to ask relevent questions about their projects. CNC identified this as an area of further work, more workshops will follow.

Title: Know Your Assembly
Description: On the 9th April 2008, the Know your Assembly Workshop was facilitated by NICVA in CNC and was fully attended by workers and volunteers from Craigavon, Banbridge and Dungannon as well as representation from regional organisations. The session was a morning of reviewing the structures of the new assembly, identified opportunities for lobbying, followed by a livley questions and answers session.

Title: Community Development Course
Description: Thanks to partial funding received from Lioyds TSB's learning Through Leadership programme this Community Development started on the 3rd March and runs for 10 weeks. Those participating on the course come from a variet of backgrounds from community development workers and volunteers to staff from the Housing Executive, Council and DSD. Tutor Joanna Donaghy from AdLumen Business Solutions, has tailor made the course for delivery through the Community Network Craigavon as part of the training calender.
